Pineapple Ground Cherry Seeds – Heirloom Husk Cherry, Sweet Tropical Flavor, 25 Count
Plant details
The Sweetest Surprise in the Vegetable Garden
Pineapple Ground Cherry (Physalis pruinosa) is a rare and delightful heirloom fruit in the tomato and tomatillo family. Each small berry delivers a uniquely tropical flavor — sweet cherry tomato with a distinct hint of pineapple — making them irresistible fresh off the plant, in salsas, jams, and fruit salads.
Plants grow stocky and low (no trellising needed), and fruits ripen inside a papery husk that dries and drops to the ground when ready. Simply pick them up. The self-wrapping husk also keeps fruits fresh for weeks after harvest.
Growing Notes
- Start indoors: 8+ weeks before last frost in a very warm location (80°F+). A heat mat speeds germination significantly.
- Germination: Slow and sporadic — expect 3–6 weeks. Be patient.
- Harden off for one week before transplanting outdoors.
- Harvest: Fruits drop in their husks when ripe. Continues until frost.
