Snake Plant Care Guide

The Snake Plant (Sansevieria trifasciata) is one of the easiest houseplants to care for. Perfect for beginners, it's nearly indestructible and tolerates neglect.

Light Requirements

Thrives in low to bright, indirect light. Can tolerate some direct sun and very low light conditions.

Watering

Water sparingly! Allow soil to dry completely between waterings. Water every 2-6 weeks depending on season and light. Less water in winter.

Soil & Fertilizer

Use well-draining cactus or succulent soil mix. Fertilize 2-3 times during growing season with diluted fertilizer.

Temperature & Humidity

Tolerates a wide range of temperatures (55-85°F). Normal household humidity is fine.

Common Problems

  • Root rot: Most common issue from overwatering
  • Wrinkled leaves: Underwatering (rare)
  • Brown tips: Fluoride in tap water - use filtered water

Air Purifying

Snake plants are excellent air purifiers, removing toxins and producing oxygen at night.
