Pothos Care Guide
Pothos (Epipremnum aureum) is a popular trailing houseplant known for its heart-shaped leaves and easy care. Perfect for hanging baskets or climbing up moss poles.
Light Requirements
Thrives in bright, indirect light but tolerates low light conditions. Variegated varieties need more light to maintain their patterns.
Watering
Water when top inch of soil feels dry. Usually every 1-2 weeks. Pothos prefers to dry out slightly between waterings.
Soil & Fertilizer
Use regular potting soil with good drainage. Fertilize monthly during spring and summer with diluted liquid fertilizer.
Temperature & Humidity
Prefers temperatures between 65-85°F. Enjoys higher humidity but adapts to normal household levels.
Pruning & Training
Trim regularly to encourage bushier growth. Can be trained to climb or left to trail. Pinch off growing tips to promote branching.
Common Problems
- Yellow leaves: Usually overwatering or natural aging
- Brown leaf tips: Low humidity or fluoride in water
- Leggy growth: Insufficient light.
Varieties
Popular varieties include Golden Pothos, Marble Queen, Neon, and Manjula.
